Michelle (she/her) has been a member of Horizon for the past year, and holds a PhD is uOttawa in Sociology. Michelle studied social movements, discourse, and how people resist structures of oppression. She also does communications work, and is aware that how we talk about issues shapes both our understandings and policy. Michelle is also an ultra-runner and cyclist, spending a lot of time outside as a pedestrian. She's particularly interested in how we can make the city more accessible and advocacy more accessible. "Policies reflect what we value, who we value, and our aspirations. Our city policies should reflect values geared towards a sustainable future for all. Our policies should reflect that we aspire to an environmentally sustainable city, an affordable city where all income levels can have a good quality of life, and an accessible city that is welcoming to everyone."
