Councillors often speak about issues that are supposedly priorities for them, but when it comes time to actually vote, they let their constituents down. Unless this is reported in the media, most residents either never know how their councillor voted, or quickly forget as the news cycle moves on.
While the city does publish meeting agenda and minutes (most of the time), the website makes users sift through the minutes of each meeting — quite a tedious process.
With our Vote Tracker database, you can now see how your councillor voted on decisions throughout the 2022-2026 term of council. You can also see votes sorted by councillor, topic, or committee, and learn just how often each councillor sides with Mayor Sutcliffe's agenda.

Methodology:
We went through the minutes of each meeting of this term of council, including City Council meetings and these committees:
- Planning and Housing
- Environment and Climate Change
- Finance and Corporate Services
- Agriculture and Rural Affairs
- Public Works and Infrastructure
- Transit Commission
Many decisions are carried due to their uncontroversial nature, so we have only included decisions with a recorded vote. Statistics like the percentage that each councillor votes with the Mayor should be interpreted as such.
Since this process was done manually, we recognize there may be some small errors or missed decisions. If you notice an omission/error or have any further questions about our methodology please contact us at [email protected]
