Tell City Councilors That Residents Need to Have a Say in The Leadership of Ottawa's Transit System!

It was announced last month, that John Manconi, Ottawa's General Manager of Transportation, the person responsible for all important decisions pertaining to transit and transportation, is stepping down at the end of September.

Jim Watson and City staff have announced that there will be an "executive search" to hire the new GM but made no plans to include the public in this decision despite the importance of this position to the daily lives of residents.

The retirement of John Manconi as Ottawa’s General Manager of Transportation provides us with an opportunity to rethink the City’s transportation policy and bring it into the 21st Century. The next head of transportation has to be someone who puts climate first and centers people at in the transportation planning process not profit or cars.

Send an e-mail to the Mayor and your City Councilor to tell them to include the public in the hiring process for the next General Manager of Transportation!
