No Public Money for Corporate Profits!

The City of Ottawa is proposing to give away $13.1 million of public money in the form of property tax breaks to a private corporation to build a luxury hotel by the Ottawa Airport in the midst of a housing, climate and affordability crisis!

To do this, they are using the "Community Improvement Program" (or CIP) grant, the same program that gave $2.9 million in tax breaks to a local Porsche dealership in Vanier.

After a lengthy discussion and lots of community pushback, the vote ended up being a tie at the Finance and Corporate Services Committee on April 4th which means that it is still going to council this coming Wednesday, April 12th so we still have work to do!
