Despite residents across the city cherishing cultural events and festivals, Mayor Sutcliffe does not see them as a priority - he's cutting $50,000 from city funding for the Tulip Festival. These events attract tourism, and benefit local business, which is something Sutcliffe supposedly cares about.
He has said in the past that they were "looking for a handout", and that only the events that could sustain themselves should survive.
If he's willing to risk the future of this festival, who knows what other arts and culture are next...
We need to fight to protect against the slashing of our cultural festivals!
