PRESS RELEASE: New councillor-elect Skalski tepid on Tewin, opposes Lansdowne

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

OTTAWA - With all 6,223 voted counted in Osgoode Ward, Isabelle Skalski has been elected councillor with 34% of the vote. Her closest opponent was former councillor and Mayor for Osgoode, Doug Thompson with around 23%

Skalski's campaign mainly focused on improving roads and low taxes among other things.

During the campaign trail, Skalski had a mixed record on things like Tewin and discussion around an incinerator but also claimed that she would oppose Lansdowne 2.0 as councillor.

When asked by Horizon Ottawa if she would take money from those connected to the real estate development industry, Skalski declined to share her list of donors early but claimed to not be accepting any developer money.

"Skalski's victory is promising on some things but mixed for those who want more sustainable development." said Tom Ledgley, Horizon Ottawa coordinator. "Throughout the by-election, Horizon Ottawa knocked on hundreds of doors all over the ward; residents in Osgoode told us clearly that they oppose the Tewin project. We will be sure to push councillor-elect Skalski on this as well as the Lansdowne project."
