Join us in celebrating 5 years of Horizon Ottawa at our Vision to Victory birthday party!

The event will feature engaging speakers, musical guests, and the perfect environment to connect with other progressives who share our goal of building a city that works for everyone.

Our speakers include local labour leader Alex Silas, Saman Tabasinejad, Executive Director of Progress Toronto and Jonathan Rosenblum, author of the recent book, We’re Coming for You and Your Rotten System: How Socialists Beat Amazon and Upended Big-City Politics.
Signed copies of the book will be available courtesy of Octopus Books, Ottawa's progressive independent bookstore since 1969.

A cash bar and complimentary reception platters will be provided by the Ottawa Art Gallery's partner Le Germain.

Speakers:

Alex Silas is a prominent labour leader and current PSAC National Executive Vice-President, representing 245,000 public workers. Alex is the first member of a directly chartered local to serve as National Executive Vice-President, and became the youngest member of PSAC’s National Board of Directors in PSAC’s history.

Saman Tabasinejad is the Executive Director of Progress Toronto, and has dedicated her career to building a more just and inclusive city. With a background in Political Science and Anthropology, she brings deep insight into how large policy decisions shape everyday lives. Saman's work with Progress Toronto includes running multiple election campaigns and a successful by-election campaign last year.

Jonathan Rosenblum is a labour organizer and author who has caused trouble for the rich and powerful for over forty years. He’s helped workers throughout North America organize, bargain, and strike in a wide range of industries—warehousing and logistics, higher education, healthcare, and public service. A member of the National Writers Union, he has published dozens of articles about labor and community organizing, and has published two books, including the one just out this fall, We’re Coming for You and Your Rotten System: How Socialists Beat Amazon and Upended Big-City Politics. Jonathan’s organizing work currently focuses on helping Amazon workers organize in the US and internationally, and he also works part-time as an Amazon delivery driver.
